NEW MIX! KOOL DAD FM

Father’s Day is this Sunday in Australia and I’m throwing a DAD ROCK party in the front bar of Goodgod. My friend Tyson and I will be playing nothing but Dad Rock anthems until the sun comes up and our casual shirts are covered in light beer stains.

I made this mix for my Dad but chances are your Dad will love it too. My Dad was the first person to get me into music. He gave me my appreciation for vinyl (which lead to me stealing all his records) and he taught me how to tape all my favourite songs off the radio when I was a kid.

I’ve always wanted to make Dad a mix, I feel like the best way to appreciate what a DJ does is to hear a tonne of your favourite songs mixed together, and since my Dad isn’t a big rap fan he probably doesn’t have the highest appreciation for my DJing. Yet. Hopefully this will change everything.

There’s definitely a few songs on hear that he probably thinks are daggy. Those songs are for other Dads I’ve met in my life. Some of them are for me (I’ll be a Dad in just a few months from now!). He’s probably mad there isn’t enough 70’s funk rock and I’ll have to edit this mix in a few mix, taking out the Dire Straits song and putting in Healing Force instead. 

Play this mix to your Dad this Sunday. If he’s free, bring him to Goodgod on Saturday night and I’ll buy him a shandy.

Love Kings is the R&B party that I run at Goodgod with my good friend Radge, who you might know from everywhere. Radge is leaving town for a while so we’re tying a bow around Love Kings and going out with one final party this Saturday night.

My amazing friends Nina and Charlie (Nina / Nina’s Dad took the photos in this post too!) put together this incredible song featuring raps from all my international friends who couldn’t make it down for the wedding – including my cousin Patrick, B’s old friend Lucy, Heaps Decent affiliates Erin and Lucas (and their little baby Miles!), plus superstar DJs Jess Jubilee, Nick Catchdubs, Diplo and Anna Lunoe with her husband and best rapper on the whole track Hendo. Nina and Charlie produced the whole thing and sang the hook, which has been in my head since the wedding!

The wedding was the best day of my life. I highly recommend everybody get married and spend all the money and time putting on the hugest party of their dreams. We added a lot of cool personal touches to the day which I’ll put up here over the next couple of days, along with 4 billion photos of me kissing the cutest gal in the universe.

NEW MIX: 1 MILLION IQ

I made a new mix of all YUNG/DUMB/FUN rap anthems that I have been listening to a shitload of lately. A couple of years ago Rico Uno and Eric Devereaux did an amazing mix for Mad Decent of this kinda shit and this is kinda similar. It’s a mix of new and less new (the oldest song here is about 3 years old), mostly from Atlanta, mostly by young ass dudes. I ripped a few of these joints off youtube, these kids couldn’t be more than 13 years old!

Anyway I’m probably gonna do a few of these over the next year because it’s my favourite shit coming out at the moment. There are a few rappers on here a few times (Young Thug rightfully features three times!) and most of the production is by DJ Spinz, K.E. On The Track and London On Da Track. Naturally I had to get Wavey Davey B to do the best intro/outro that he’s done for me yet (shout out to his wife too!). The dude Bobby Gelato did the fine artwork.
