HOLY HEART ATTACK BATMAN

I just made this for lunch (aka late brunch). I wanted to submit it to This Is Why You’re Fat but the site is down! Whyyyyyyy?

sandwichface:

Eggs, bacon, avocado, fried tomato and Louisiana red chilli hot sauce on French sourdough. Made by Levins.

This sandwich was made on two frog in the holes. Levins made them like this:

  1. cut a circle out of each slice of bread with a water glass
  2. heat up a fry pan with a little butter
  3. put the bread in the pan an crack an egg in each hole
  4. let them cook then flip
  5. they’re ready when both sides are brown!

Levins fried the little holes of bread too- buttering both sides first. YUM they were super moist and buttery, almost like biscuits. Really good with the hot sauce.

I got Levins the Louisiana hot sauce from the USA foods website. They sell heaps of mad American foods that are hard to find here and postage is pretty reasonable.

HEAPS DECENT: SCHOOLS RECONCILIATION CHALLENGE

heapsdecent:

As this week is Reconciliation Week and the 10 year anniversary of the Reconciliation Bridge Walk, the New South Wales Reconciliation Council held a Schools Reconciliation Challenge to raise awareness of the concept of Reconciliation amongst young people. Yesterday, some of the Heaps Decent crew headed down to their Awards Ceremony where we were privileged to experience a fantastic choir performance by Revesby South Public School students and Major Award winner Paige Lagettie’s stellar performance of her Major Award winning song!

NEW MIX: END OF THE NIGHT – THE RAP ONE

So I made a new mix of rap songs just in time for Halfway Crooks this weekend.

It’s the first in a series I’m gonna do featuring songs that I like to play at the end of the night. I mean I like to play most of these songs at the beginning and middle of the night too but these songs in particular are ones that I’ve ended a few parties with over the years – or continued the party with at a kick on!

Some of these songs are old, some are new, some of them are a little obscure and others were big hits. They’re all Southern rap songs either based around a soul sample or with a sing song hook. All the songs are pretty anthemic, even to a dude like me on the other side of the world from where these songs were made.

DJ ZINC LIVE MIX ON RO SHAM BO SUNSET

Here’s an awesome live mix and interview that DJ Zinc did on our radio show last week.

Me and Moriarty have been huge Zinc fans for a while (Moriarty probably has ten years of fanboy-dom on me) and it was great to have him in. The mix is fucking killer too.

HALFWAY CROOKS YAYYYYYY

Halfway Crooks is back this Saturday night at Phoenix! We realised we missed our first birthday! Oh well.

Come celebrate our 14th month with us this weekend.

DOOD FOOD

10 dudes came round for dinner the other night and received the works: cheeseburgers with bacon, pickles, red onion and rocket on a charred bun. I tried to cook em pretty rare too.

After smashing 2 burgers each and a handful of hand cut fries, I still had the deep fryer going and a bunch of leftover pickles. I make my own dill pickles using cucumber grown by B’s Dad and they’re super tasty. I’d read about deep frying pickles over at Meatwave and decided to give em a try. We didn’t have any cornmeal in the house so I used masa. Different but good.

They came up terrific, the batter of masa and flour puffed up and went nice and crispy while the pickles stayed juicy. The taste was off the hook. Deep fried pickles would be the ultimate bar snack! Serve them with some toothpicks and some good beer. Mmmmm.

So my housemate Jeremy convinced me to buy the new Pokemon Heart Gold game (he opted for Soul Silver), which is the first Pokemon game I’ve played since I stole a kid I was babysitting’s Gameboy in in 1997.

I defeated the Lance bro (after 30 hours of addictive gameplay) and now have to go destroy a bunch of other pussy gym leaders in some other town. It’s a pretty great game but for real, Joey needs to stop calling me.

BONE THUGS AUTUMN

So for the first song of every Ro Sham Bo Sunset radio show in Autumn, Moriarty and I played a Bone Thugs-N-Harmony track. Over the course of the leafy season we played:

Thuggish Ruggish Bone

Foe tha Love of Money

Tha Crossroads

Notorious Thugs

Get’cha Thug On

Weed Song

Get Up and Get It

Down Foe My Thang

Resurrection (Paper, Paper)

Thug Luv

Creepin On Ah Come Up

(and psst… we’re gonna play 1st Of Tha Month as a BONUS song next week on the 1st of June!)

We also did a call out for listeners to decide which rap group we should play a song by for the first song each show in Winter and the response was huge! It came down to three main contenders – Outkast, Slum Village and Wu-Tang Clan – but the majority spoke and it looks like we have a WU-TANG WINTER to look forward to…

Listen to Ro Sham Bo Sunset with Levins & Moriarty, Tuesdays from 6pm – 8pm on FBi 94.5FM
